This Brown Bear was doing alot of digging under stumps and in the sand of the beach in search of food. Bears are very adaptive and there isn't much a hungry Bear won't eat. Though I'm sure they would rather feast on a big Salmon or a Moose carcass , a Bear's diet can also include, among many other things, small rodents, roots,berries and even grass. This is a good fact to keep in mind while camping in Bear Country. Food is usually best hung high in a tree or in "Bear canisters" and cooking areas should always be kept clean and far away from your sleeping area.
